This week the Riparian Preserve is hosting another public star party, and it’s a simple local event that people always say they want to do more often. Time to look up and remember how quiet the desert sky can be?

☘️ Green pints and neighborhood pride

The Brass Tap has quickly become the soul of Verde at Cooley Station, acting as a polished yet unpretentious living room for the community. With its massive sliding doors open to the Arizona sunshine, the space feels like a natural extension of the sidewalk.

This weekend, the atmosphere turns festive with green beers and a soundtrack of live music. The staff remembers your name and the kitchen turns out a surprisingly sharp mac and cheese bite to go with those sixty rotating taps.

🐾 A splashy sanctuary for your four-legged friends

Cosmo Dog Park captures that breezy spring energy as the lakeside beach comes alive with wagging tails and cooling splashes. There is a deep sense of local pride in this seventeen-acre space, originally inspired by our first police dog.

You might see a bold Lab taking its very first swim or a group of regulars gathering on the fresh grass as the afternoon sun softens. Between the paw-print shadows on the walkways and the dedicated washing stations that save your car seats from the trek home, every detail feels purposeful.

It is a lovely place to linger by the water or walk the memorial brick path, enjoying the lively, friendly hum that defines our corner of Gilbert.

🚒 New Fire Captains Ready to Lead

The Gist Twenty-three local firefighters from Gilbert and Queen Creek just graduated from the captain’s academy. After 160 hours of classroom work and hands-on training, these leaders earned college credits through Phoenix College. Fifteen members from Gilbert and eight from Queen Creek are now moving into their new roles.

Why It Matters These dedicated professionals are stepping up to guide their crews and strengthen the safety of our neighborhoods. Graduates will soon begin their new positions as captains within our local fire departments.

👮‍♂️ Go Behind the Scenes with Gilbert Police

The Gist Applications are now open for the spring Gilbert Police Citizens’ Academy. This thirteen week program offers a deep dive into local law enforcement, including K-9 units, crime scene investigations, and a new tactical driving course. Participants meet weekly to learn how officers serve the town.

Why It Matters This is a unique chance to build personal connections with the people who keep our neighborhoods safe.

What’s Next Classes begin Wednesday, April 8. Interested residents who live or work in Gilbert can apply online now. Spots are limited.
