Whether it's volunteering, supporting a local business, or showing up at a community event, there are plenty of ways to make this town feel a little smaller. 🤝 Get involved: Volunteer Info Night

The Gist: Residents can learn how to give back to the community when the Gilbert Police Department hosts a volunteer information night on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The event at 75 E Civic Center Drive will introduce neighbors to three different roles: Administrative Support, Crisis Support Unit, and Gilbert Citizens on Patrol.

Why It Matters: Volunteering offers a hands-on way to support the department and directly serve your fellow neighbors, whether that means helping behind the scenes or assisting community members during a crisis. Program opportunities are open to adults 18 or older who pass a background check and can commit to eight hours of service per month for one year.

📱 Instagram account for teens and families

The Gist The Town launched a new Instagram account, @GrowinUpGilbert, aimed at middle and high school students and their families. The account is a centralized hub for youth programs, community events, volunteer opportunities, leadership initiatives, and safety education. Gilbert has more than 80,000 residents under the age of 18.

Why It Matters: With three school districts, dozens of youth programs, and countless events across town, one Instagram feed built for teens is a genuinely useful thing. Parents of middle and high schoolers, this is worth a follow.

Romeo's Euro Café, Gilbert’s original sanctuary for slow Mediterranean cooking has been serving the East Valley since 1991. Chef Romeo Taus cooks every plate to order, from twenty-six distinct pitas to spicy lamb potapo and rich eggplant capri.

Duck into the cool, air-conditioned dining room for fresh pastries and espresso, or turn a plain Thursday night into an occasion with multi-course wine pairings.

🧘 Cool moves and calm minds

When the heat feels a bit too much, Saule Yoga offers a sanctuary. As the East Valley's non-heated studio, it prioritizes mindful movement over sweat-chamber temperatures. This Green Gilbert partner runs classes ranging from dynamic Flow to alignment-focused Wall Yoga and deeply relaxing Restorative sessions.

The welcoming community also hosts special gatherings, including sound healing on the 9th, arm balances on the 10th, and evening cacao on the 22nd.

Cuddlebuns is a 4-year-old Chihuahua weighing 13 pounds.

This gentle companion prioritizes cozy lap time over noisy toys, making him a peaceful presence for quiet afternoons. Currently staying at Friends for Life Animal Rescue, Cuddlebuns is ready to bring warmth to a loving local household.
