π Fall fun returns to Downtown GilbertThe Gist: The Heritage District is kicking off five weeks of autumn celebrations running through Nov. 1 along Gilbert Road. Enjoy the Great Gilbert Gourd Hunt featuring pumpkin sculptures by Ray Villafane, free Thursday concerts at Water Tower Plaza, and the "Celebration Soundscape" light-and-sound installation. Plus, the new Flavors of Gilbert Food Festival offers a restaurant tasting tour on Oct. 17. Why It Matters: Itβs a wonderful opportunity to enjoy live music under the stars, discover new neighborhood dining spots, and build seasonal memories right here at home.
π§οΈοΈ Preparing for a wet fall and winterThe Gist: With a strong El NiΓ±o pattern developing, Gilbert is gearing up for heavier autumn rain and potential storm hazards. Sandbags are currently available while supplies last at Fire Stations 1, 3, and 9 (just bring your own shovel). Town officials are urging residents to clear storm drains, turn off landscape irrigation ahead of storms, stay out of flooded stormwater basins, and avoid pooled roads. Why It Matters: Taking a few quick precautions now helps protect your home from sudden flooding and keeps local drivers safe when heavy downpours hit. Plus, turning off your sprinklers during rainy spells saves precious local water.
