Thereβs a certain point in July when summer starts to feel like itβs on borrowed time. School is around the corner, the calendar is filling up, and suddenly everyone wants to squeeze in one last bit of fun.

So we pulled together a few good options, from finding Waldo around town to watching the night sky and catching the final week of a '70s soul tribute. Consider this your reminder to enjoy the last stretch before the backpacks come out.

π² Back-to-school patrols and new e-bike rules

The Gist: As the 2026β2027 school year begins, the Gilbert Police Department is increasing officer presence around local campuses to focus on traffic enforcement and student safety. The town is also rolling out new e-bike and e-scooter ordinances, which include mandatory helmets for riders under 18, a 15 mph speed limit on sidewalks and paths, and an age minimum of 12 for Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes.
Why It Matters: Traffic around local schools gets hectic fast, so extra patrols help keep neighborhood streets calm during morning and afternoon rushes. With more kids using motorized rides to get to class, clear age limits and helmet rules give parents better guidance to keep young riders safe across Gilbert.
π The Escape Game lands in Downtown Gilbert
The Gist The Escape Game, a Nashville-based national escape room brand, is opening its first Arizona location in Gilbert's Heritage District on Thursday, July 31, at 366 N. Gilbert Road. The Gilbert spot features five cinematic escape rooms, including "Murder with a Side of Meatballs," a whodunit set inside a fully-built-out Italian restaurant stage. All rooms run on a 60-minute clock.
Why It Matters: Escape rooms are the classic "we should do something with a group" fix, and having one this polished within walking distance of Heritage District dinner spots is going to reshape date-night and team-hang plans. Doors open July 31. Pre-sale gift cards are available now.

π Wood-fired pies, local scoops, and summer specials

3000 E Ray Rd Bldg 6 suite 101, Gilbert
Fire and Brimstoneβs whole story tracks: farm to oven to you, within a hundred yards. Owner James Johnston builds the menu around produce grown steps away at Agritopia. Beyond classic pizzas, it is not too late for big summer specials like the fresh Pacific Blossom Ceviche, the sweet-and-savory Bianca Piccante on focaccia, or warm Peach Cobbler topped with local Cream of the Crop ice cream.
One quirk: it is BYOB. Grab a draft from 12 West Brewing or a bottle from Garage-East, both steps away. Perfect for your next family night.

β¨ Modern Convenience Store That's a Whole Vibe

1566 S Higley Rd, Gilbert
Air Guitar blends design-forward retail with an easygoing patio scene. It is easy to swing by for a quick floral bouquet or a hostess gift and walk out with local Jiggy puzzles, curated wine, or a crisp Huss Brewing collab pilsner.
Summer is winding down, but there is still time for their Discover Gilbert Summer Special: BOGO single-scoop ice cream EVERY Thursday.
