🚨 Gilbert builds high-tech safety training campus

The Gist: Gilbert invested $86 million in a 50-acre police-fire training center, plus remodels for its 911 and emergency ops spaces. Recruits now practice rail crashes, desert driving, and live-fire drills without leaving town. Dispatchers work in brighter, plant-filled rooms equipped for wellness.

🏗️ Green Light for Pecos & Rome Mixed Use

The Gist: Gilbert’s Planning Commission OK’d rezoning for a long-vacant parcel at Pecos Road and Rome Street, clearing the way for 357 apartments above 16,000 square feet of ground-floor shops and offices. The plan also sets aside 28 percent open space and 636 parking spots.

Why It Matters: The project brings much-needed housing and convenient services while adding foot traffic to nearby businesses. Town Council will take the final vote later this summer. Read more here.
