Why It Matters: Moving the transit hub takes commuter traffic pressure off the Heritage District while giving neighbors near Cooley Station easier access to bus routes. The new location also keeps the door open for potential future passenger rail connections between Phoenix and Tucson.

The Gist: Gilbert Parks and Recreation took home two major honors at the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association’s (APRA) 76th Annual Conference & Expo in Phoenix. George Tole, Recreation Coordinator at Cactus Yards Sports Complex, was named Young Professional of the Year, while the complex’s indoor youth soccer program earned Outstanding Sports Program.
