Arizona summers have a funny way of making even the smallest outing feel like an adventure. That's why we're always on the lookout for activities that are actually worth braving the heat. This month, floating in the pool while watching a movie is high on our list, and it's completely free.

Shops, restaurants, breweries, and fitness studios have also rolled out dozens of seasonal specials, making this one of the easiest and most affordable times to try somewhere new. Add in museum exhibits, live music, and a full calendar of local events, and you've got plenty of reasons to get out and explore Gilbert!

🎥 Poolside movie night at Mesquite

The Gist: Gilbert Parks and Recreation is hosting a free Dive-In Movie Night on Friday, July 24 at the Mesquite Aquatic Center on Mesquite Street. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and families can float in the pool or lounge on the deck to watch Zootopia 2 starting around 7:30 p.m. Admission is completely free, but you'll want to arrive early since spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why It Matters: Celebrating National Park and Recreation Month, this event gives local families a perfect, budget-friendly way to beat the July heat together. It is a wonderful excuse to grab the kids, enjoy our community spaces, and connect with neighbors under the stars.

🌵 Discover Gilbert's 2026 Summer Specials Guide is Live

The Gist Discover Gilbert, the town's tourism arm, published its full 2026 Chillin' in Gilbert summer specials. More than 20 locally owned Gilbert shops, restaurants, breweries, and fitness studios are running publicly listed summer promos, from a free Gilbert or Arizona tote bag with a $40 purchase at Gilbert Made, to a complimentary summer beauty mini with any $75 purchase at Freed Beauty. Many of the deals require simply mentioning "Chillin' in Gilbert" at checkout.

Why It Matters: July and August are historically the slow months for Gilbert small businesses (families travel, snowbirds are gone, and the heat keeps casual foot traffic down). The Chillin' in Gilbert program is the town's answer, and this year's list is the most complete it's been. Deals run through the end of summer (many through July 30 or August 31).

Owner Albert Suh imported authentic bingsu machines directly from Korea to launch FROSTAiLS, and the town’s welcome couldn’t be warmer. This isn't your childhood snow cone; it’s a delicate, milky shaved snow topped with fresh mango, condensed milk, and chewy mochi.

The shop doubles as a market for imported Korean teas and house-made kimchi, backed by hospitality so neighborly that Albert usually remembers your order. Pair a mango snow with a surprising banana coffee or a sparkling kiwi-ade for the road!

July brings a bit of neighborhood playfulness to Gilbert Made by Printwerx. While searching for Waldo hidden around the shop this month, you can browse fresh summer arrivals like prickly pear marmalade and local wildflower honey.
