If you’ve driven past Power and Williams Field roads lately, you’ve probably seen the dirt moving. Construction is officially underway on the next phase of Desert Sky Park, and the plans are looking great.

We’re talking more fields, more courts, and eventually, a splash pad for the kids. While we wait for those to finish, there is plenty to do right now, including a movie night on the green and some 5K fun runs!

🥙 Reimagining the art of the pita pocket

The name translates to pocket sandwich, but the experience at SHATERA is much more than a quick lunch. The modern, open-concept space feels airy and intentional, keeping the focus on the kitchen’s authentic Middle Eastern roots.

Their pita is notably thick and pillowy, especially when cradling hand-crafted falafel and tender fried eggplant. For a complete spread, the beef shawarma pairs beautifully with a glass of Jones soda from the fountain.

The Gist: Construction is officially underway on the second phase of Desert Sky Park at Power and Williams Field roads. This expansion adds eight shaded pickleball courts, two sand volleyball courts, and a fifth multi-use field to the existing ninja course and lake. Visitors can also look forward to a splash pad, two new playgrounds, and a dog running area.

Why It Matters: These new spaces offer more room for our local youth sports teams to practice and families to enjoy active weekends together close to home.

What’s Next: Construction is expected to take about two years to complete.

🧤 A Heartwarming Morning at HD South

The Gist Our town is gathering at HD South next weekend to bridge the gap between neighbors and local help. Over 50 nonprofits and schools will share resources for wellness and education while kids enjoy yard games and music nearby. It is a perfect morning to grab local gear, find a volunteer role, and celebrate the kindness that makes Gilbert special.
